Who this policy covers
This policy covers maineretirementhomes.com, an informational directory maintained by Maine Retirement Homes. It does not cover the websites of listed facilities or other sites we link to. See About & Contact for our purpose and how to reach the maintainer.
Browsing and site security
You do not need an account to browse. Our hosting and security providers, Hostinger and Cloudflare, process technical request information to deliver the site, diagnose failures, and reduce abuse. This can include IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information, and request times. Their practices are described in the Hostinger privacy policy and Cloudflare privacy policy.
Search and filter choices appear in the page URL so you can share a search. Do not enter personal, medical, or financial information in the directory search or URL.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 on directory and guide pages to understand visits and how people use the site. Depending on your choices and the service settings, Google can process page URLs, referrals, interactions, browser or device information, and cookie identifiers. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s privacy policy.
Our Privacy, About/Contact, correction form, and correction confirmation pages do not load Google Analytics or advertising scripts.
Advertising and third-party vendors
Google AdSense supports the site through advertisements. Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies or similar identifiers to select, deliver, and measure ads, including ads based on previous visits to this site or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies can enable Google and its partners to personalize ads across sites.
Advertising partners may process information under their own policies. Google describes its partners and their privacy information in its ad technology provider information. An advertisement is not an endorsement of a facility, and advertising does not change the public-source facts in a listing.
Your cookie and advertising choices
- Manage Google personalized ads in My Ad Center.
- Manage participating third-party advertisers through Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out choices.
- Use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on where supported.
- Your browser can block or delete cookies. Choices may need to be repeated on other browsers or devices, or after clearing browser data.
Where a consent or privacy message is displayed, use its controls to review the available choices. These external opt-out tools do not necessarily stop all advertising or all technical data processing.
Correction reports and contact requests
The correction form collects the facility name or website topic, issue category, message, and any source URL you provide. Your name and follow-up email are optional. Reports receive an identifier and submission time and are stored in a private review queue outside the public website directory.
We use reports to investigate public directory facts, respond when appropriate, and handle website or privacy questions. Reports are not published automatically. A verified public fact may be used to update a listing; reporter contact details and private message contents are not part of that update. Do not send medical records, health details, financial information, or other sensitive personal information.
The form uses a hashed connection address and recent submission times for rate limiting; the raw address is not stored in the report itself. The form does not automatically email your report contents.
Storage and retention
Pending and reviewed reports remain in private storage for review and follow-up. There is currently no automatic deletion schedule for these reports. Hosting, security, analytics, advertising, and email providers have separate retention practices and settings; we do not promise a single retention period for all systems.
Access to reports is restricted, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Please send only what is needed to explain a public-record issue or website question.
Privacy questions and requests
Email [email protected] or use our contact form options to ask about this policy or request access, correction, or deletion of information you submitted. Describe the request without resending sensitive details. We may need to verify that the request concerns your information. Applicable rights and exceptions depend on your circumstances and location.
When you email us directly, your email address and message are processed by email providers and received in our mailbox, separately from the correction form’s review queue. We use that information to handle your inquiry.
If our practices change, we will update this page and its revision date.
